CAPTAIN CHAOS LOSES 2 GAMES IN A DAY!!!!

Sunday saw the Enders rabble in a home game on a cold and overcast day which was disapointing considering the previous days heat. With all 3 normal skippers unavailable to play a guest captain had to stand in, this in itself had caused confusion with no-one owning up to actually asking Colin Territ to stand in but as he was enthusiastic he was labelled Captain Chaos and given the reins. The game was to be a 35 over game with 7 overs per bowler, the first thing Chaos had to do was win the toss, failure number 1 and the rabble were inserted on a wicket that was dry but may offer a bit for the bowlers. The openers found runs hard to come by and Delboy was given out to a dubious LBW where everyone in the pavilion heard the edge but no-one on the field heard it some what bizarre and from Del’s reaction a mistake may have been made(sorry del!!). JP was undone by a very good slower ball and that made for a bit of a collapse as all batsman failed, with only the Monster cutting loose but being run out in full flow, even the skipper failed and went for his 3rd duck in a row the Enders allout for a paltry 84.

After a quick 5 over spell tea was taken without an early breakthrough and to be honest this was to be the pattern for the game with so few runs to play with the skipper went on all out attack; not a bad plan but the bowlers never really had the penetration and the total was reached with 20 overs to spare.

With so much time left a 10 over a side match was the way forward with everyone bar the wicket keepers to bowl 1 over. Shenley continued to bat and the bowling from some was a lot better from others it was distinctly average and they clocked up a competitive 79 from their 10 overs. The Enders tried hard to get going with Mike Gurney hitting a huge six and breaking a tile on the pavilion roof, there was some tight bowling and the Enders fell 12 runs short of the total.

Captain Chaos had lost his second game in one day possibly a new club record!!!!! (can anyone confirm this??)

The Outcome – 2 games lost
The Lesson – A bit more concentration with the bat (and specs/hearing aid for the umpire - ED)
The Verdict – Well done Colin on a well organised first attempt at skippering , now get in the nets and improve that batting!!!!!!!!!!!!!
